Minimum Requirements for Nanny Please save yourself time and read our minimum requirements. Some positions require more experience. Each family has their own requirements. This will provide you with an indication whether you want to proceed further with the application process.

  • You must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • You must be currently residing in the USA: Texas or Louisiana.
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • You must be experienced in working with children.
  • You must have at least two excellent references related to childcare.
  • You must be ready to provide sitting for a period of at least 1 year (live-in Nanny only).
  • You must be fluent in English.
  • In addition, most parents prefer a non-smoker who has a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Our clients seek a nanny that will be a role model for their children.

Responsibilities of a Nanny
A Nanny’s primary responsibility is childcare. Daily tasks typically include: arranging playdates, entertainment,carpooling, help with Homework, reading, indoor and outdoor play, activities, crafts, bathing, feeding and dressing. A live-in Nanny is also expected to do Light Housekeeping chores which can include: Laundry for children Keeping children’s room organized, beds made shopping and running errands, emptying garbage, loading/unloading dishwasher.  Tidy up after children, put toys away and keep personal bedroom/bathroom clean.

Best Time to Apply
While good jobs are available year-round, the major turnover times in nanny placement are the normal turnover times of the school calendar: August-September, January, and April-May-June.

Lead Time
Experienced employers start their search about three months in advance of their anticipated start date. Usually employers want their nanny in place 6 weeks before start date.. If you want to work for an experienced family, or to have your choice of jobs, apply 3 months in advance of the date you plan to be available.

Flexibility
How long will it take? This depends on when you apply and what you are looking for. The Nanny who is open to any good job will be placed easily. The more specific your request, the further ahead you must plan.
